Task One
·
Water could be retained, raised, and distributed to
summer crops with the aid of barrages constructed on the Nile below Cairo and
at sites on 30.000 km of new canal
Reason: The
result of the transformation of Nile River.
·
Cash crops such as cotton, sugar cane, and vegetables
tended and still tend to be produced at the expense of subsistence crops.
Reason: the
effect of the transformation that really benefit for agricultural.
·
As the amount of land available for agriculture
increased, so did the population. Egypt’s population has increased from 2.5
million in the early 1800s to 9.7 million in the late 1800s, 18.8 million in
the 1940s, 37 million in the mid-70s, and 46 million in 1984.
Reason: As the
impact of Egyptians who preferred to live within or near the cultivated land
area.
·
Recent studies have indicated that approximately 1-2%
of Egypt’s arable land is lost annually to human encroachment.
Reason: The
bad effect of transformation of Nile River, there are a lot of people that
exploit the land irresponsible.
Task Two
I
think the second summary provides the right amount of details. We can see from
the text, the details is clearly shown and every single reader can understand
and achieve the information contain in the text.
My
own summary of the third paragraph.
Egyptians
have historically preferred to live within or near the cultivated land area and
year by year the population of Egypt has increased. In the early 1800s the
population was 2.5 million, 9.7 million in the late 1800s, 18.8 million in the
1940s, 37 million in the mid-70s, 46 million in 1984. The impact of that
phenomenon is 1-2% of Egypt’s arable is lost annually because of human
exploitation.
Task Three
After
read the text and the reason of the underlined sentences, I have a little
different opinion. Such as, the writer prefers to ignore the specific details
about the different principles. Because I think it is pretty important for the
reader to be informed. And there are also a couple of reasons that
contradictive with my opinion, when I think it is not to important to
underlined but the writer underlined it.
Task Four
1. I think the
writer write the text by his own word, but the idea is still the same. Details
and support for the text also exist in his summary, and also he didn’t add his
own opinion, view and comment.
2. The writer
presents the main idea of the text and there are enough support and explanation
in the text.
3. The rewrite
summary is fairly objective.
4. And it is not
too long, good enough to read for the reader.
5. The writer has
used his own word and he also didn’t paraphrase the specialized vocabulary or
technical terms.
6. There are some
cases that are missing in the rewrite summary, for example are the two kinds of
principles about patent.
7. The writer
changes some details, he didn’t write it down in the rewrite summary.
8. The last is
the writer didn’t paraphrase the specialized vocabulary or technical terms, for
example World Intellectual Properties Organization (WIPO).
